Tony Yeboah Apologizes For Unguarded Baffour Comments

Ghana legend Tony Yeboah has apologized for comments passed over the goalscoring exploits of New Edubiase striker Emmanuel Baffour. The 23-year-old has hit 21 league goals so far this season and is on course to breaking the 22-goal record set by Ishmael Addo in the 2001/02 season with four matches left to go. However Yeboah, who is president of Division One club Yegoala FC said a few weeks back after losing to Edubiase that Baffour who was being aided by refereeing decisions is an over-hyped striker. Yeboahs comments infuriated many including Ghana FA Execuive Committee member Wilfred Osei (Parma) who threatened taking the case to the Ethics Committee. But Yeboah has beat a massive retreat, saying his unguarded comments was in expression of bad officiating in the FA Cup loss to the Berkwai-based club. I am very sorry for the cooments made on Emmnauel Baffour, it wasnt my intention to downplay his goalscoring exploits, he told Accra-based Asempa FM. We played against Edubiase in Kumasi and I was very unhappy with the way the game was officiated and it was out of my frustration that I made such comments. Yeboah adds he supports any rising talent from the local scene. Of course I will always encourage not only Baffour but other up and coming talents because I believe we have quality to make the league and the national teams great again. Baffour looks set to make his second Black Stars appearance following his debut outing in an international friendly with Chile in February.
