An attack on a cattle market by gunmen in north-eastern Nigeria has left several people dead, police have said. There are conflicting reports on the number of casualties after the market in Potiskum, Yobe state, was set on fire. A hospital source told the AFP news agency up to 34 people died, while witnesses say four were killed. Police say the attack may be in revenge for the killing by traders of a man who had earlier tried to steal cattle.
