J.J Rawlings To Lecture African Leaders On Governance

Former President John Rawlings is currently in Tanzania to participate in a workshop on Government and Opposition organized by the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. The Former President who arrived today is expected to speak on the topic, Government and Opposition: Roles and Responsibilities when the workshop opens tomorrow. The three-day forum will bring together parliamentarians from governing and opposition parties of Commonwealth countries in East Africa as well as selected resource persons, civil society and regional and international organizations. Spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams told Citi News if you look at the person of Jerry Rawlings, he is one person that was able to initiate the first political democratic constitutional transition in Ghana and at the age that he did it, many African Heads of State would not. He did it at a very young age of 52 so hes been a good example for many African countries that you dont have to be on the seat continually till youre almost dying before you hand over. He did so, he handed over to the opposition, worked as somebody who has founded a political party and got that party back to party again. These are the things hes going to share with them, what they can do as opposition, be a responsible opposition and what you can do also in government and be a responsible government so that the two can co-exist.
