The Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Guide Newspaper Fortune Alimi says they are prepared to meet Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka in court to defend their story on his marriage to a 17-year-old girl. Alhaji Muntaka, Member of Parliament for Asawase in the Ashanti region has filed a suit against the Daily Guide following the Newspaper�s Monday publication that he had married a minor. According to Hon. Muntaka�s lawyer, Samson Lardi Ayenini who spoke to XYZ News, the legislator is seeking 600,000 cedis in damages over the report and an apology from the newspaper. The Daily Guide newspaper in its Monday edition reported that the former deputy Youth and Sports Minister has tied the knot with a 17-year-old Senior High School graduate. The MP however denied the story in a subsequent interview describing Daily Guide's publication as shameful. The father of the young lady also revealed to XYZ News in an exclusive interview that his daughter is a little over 20 years old. Lawyer Lardi Ayenini told XYZ News that Alhaji Muntaka is seeking cost and to restrain Daily Guide from any further publications that could defame and dent his reputation. But, Fortune Alimi in an interview with XYZ News said neither he, nor Western Publications, publishers of Daily Guide have received any writ of summons and are unaware of any suit against them. He however said that their source cannot be wrong on the age of the young lady and are ready to defend themselves in court.
