Muntari Plays Down Role In Kevin Boateng Ghana Return

Sulley Muntari insists he is not the one to convince Kevin-Prince Boateng to return to the Black Stars. There were heightened expectations the 27-year-old will lead the bid to have Boateng rescind his decision after spending the second half of the season at AC Milan. Boateng announced his decision to quit the national team in November last year citing health reasons. Former Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic made unsuccessful attempts to lure the German-born back into the team after impressing at the 2010 World Cup finals. But Muntari beat down expectations by saying it behooves the Ghana FA to win back the former German youth international. I am not GFA, I play for the Black Stars so the GFA is working on that, Muntari said. For now, he is not ready, maybe in future he will but we have good players who can do the job. Muntari will captain Ghana for the opening 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia. He shrugged off a thigh injury sustained two weeks ago and began training with the team on Tuesday.
