Veep Inaugurates 30 Pick-Up Vehicles For National Fire Service

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has emphasized governments readiness to intensify the security services even as the much anticipated December general election approaches. Mr. Mahama made this known when he officially inaugurated 30 brand new pick-up vehicles for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The move is part of governments effort to procure 50 pick-ups to strengthen the GNFS as the nations only reliable fire fighters. He stressed that government was much committed to procure additional fire tenders to augment the existing ones. According to him, government recognizes the work of the fire service as one of a difficult task hence the need to equip them in carrying out their duty efficiently. He noted that the country recorded its worst fire out breaks in the year 2009/2010, affecting most government agencies and departments including the ministry of foreign affairs, adding that a committee which was later set up by the government to investigate into the causes of those fire out-breaks also underscored the need to resource the fire service. The Interior Minister, William Aboah, hailed the government for the intervention and urged officers to use the vehicles assiduously to improve security in the country.
