2 Students Kidnapped In Kumasi

TWO married women who are students of the Christian Service University College (CUSC) in Kumasi were kidnapped by some unknown hoodlums at gunpoint on Wednesday evening, minutes after they had finished writing their end-of-semester examination. The gangsters who wielded guns and knives kidnapped the fear-stricken students at the Santase roundabout area, which is very far from the schools campus. The students, whose names are not immediately available, were standing by the busy Kumasi-Obusai road waiting to board a car to their homes when the gangsters struck. The hoodlums, who spoke fluent Hausa, immediately blindfolded their visibly-shaken victims with clothes, dragged them into a waiting car, and sped off towards the Obuasi direction. During the journey, one of the students reportedly started praying fervently to God to come to their aid. Her action angered the gangsters so they injured her in the neck. The gangsters, who are still at large, sent the two to a thick bush in a town near Obuasi where they held them captive for some minutes. Minutes later, a man, believed to be the leader of the hoodlums, appeared at the scene and his presence reportedly heightened the fear of the two ladies who were shivering. But the two students fear soon subsided as the leader of the gangsters instantly charged his men to set the two ladies free, claiming they were not those he ordered them to kidnap. The gangsters then left the scene, leaving the two victims to their fate in the dark and thick bush. The two ladies later managed to walk to the roadside and boarded a car home. When contacted, Adade Yeboah, Dean of Students of CSUC, confirmed the story. He described the incident as an isolated case, stressing that it had not raised any security concerns in the school, adding that the school had well-equipped and professionally trained security men in and around campus always. Mr. Yeboah, speaking with DAILY GUIDE around 5pm yesterday, said the ladies were about to report the matter to the police, adding that the gangsters could never have kidnapped the ladies within the schools catchment area since security was always tight at CSUC.
