Nominations For PLB Premier League Awards Out

Asante Kotoko influential midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei has been nominated for the top Premier League Award in Ghana this year. The impressive enforcer must fend off competition from top scorer Emmanuel Baffour and Berekum Chelseas Emmanuel Clottey to be crowned the seasons Most Valuable Player. Adjei has enjoyed an incredible run of form this term with eye-catching performances that has defined Kotokos season. The marvelous midfield display of the 23-year-old has been touted as the one of the reasons why the Porcupine Warriors clinched their 21st League title. Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu is the front runner to clinch the Coach of the Year Award after guiding the Porcupine Warriors to their first League title in four years. But he will face some sort of competition from Bashir Hayford of Medeama and AshantiGolds Yaw Acheampong. Acheampong earned the nomination after guiding the side to an incredible second position on the standings following a difficult start to the campaign. Berekum Chelseas Edward Kpodo is the hot favourite to win the Defender of the Year accolade after playing 29 games and conceding just a single yellow card. But Kotokos stalwart centre-back Awal Mohammed could prove a major threat with Rashid Sumaila of Ebusua Dwarfs touted as a serious contender. Asante Kotoko impressive left-full back Baba Abdul Rahman is almost certain to be crowned the Most Promising Player of the season after churning out eye-catching performances in his debut season at Kotoko. His competitors include Mighty Jets whiz kid Eli Agbeko and Joshua Oninku of Tema Youth. Burkinabe import Soulama Abdoulaye was nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Season alongside Robert Dabuo of All Stars and Berekum Chelseas Ernest Sowah. Controversial Fifa referee William Agbovi and compatriots John Atikese and Theresa Bremansu will fight for the Referee of the Year Award. The 2012 Premier League Awards ceremony will take place in Kumasi on June 16.
