Doctors in Ghana have raised GHC5,000 to reward any member of the public who will provide information leading to the arrest of the person(s) suspected to have murdered Dr Desmond Kabah. Dr Kabah, a houseman at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, was found dead in his flat, Room 42 on the third floor of Block N which accommodates house officers, about 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2012. His death raised security concerns over the safety of members of staff of the hospital, as some nurses have been recently attacked on the hospital premises after close of work. Bloodstains were found in his left armpit and on his scrotum, while bruises were found on the left leg, with blood oozing from his nostrils. His bed sheet was also soaked with blood. Dr Joseph Gyanteh and Dr Korli Glover, both of Korle-Bu, who are spearheading the fund-raising on Facebook, told graphic.com.gh Friday that Dr Kabah�s family and the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service had given them the green light to reward anyone who would provide information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator(s). He said they had been moved by the bizarre manner in which Dr Kabah died, hence the decision to support the police to apprehend the criminals. Dr Gyanteh said the police had also informed them that they were awaiting the final pathology report to facilitate their investigations. "We are told that the final report will be ready by close of next week," he said. He said the doctors were contemplating setting up a scholarship scheme for needy students in Dr Kabah's honour or sponsor an award at the University of Ghana Medical School in his honour," he said. Dr Gyanteh explained that the way and manner Dr Kabah died was so bizarre that the doctors felt they needed to do something in his memory.
