Charter House Set Record Straight On Musicians Boycott" of GMA Presentation

We wish to set the record straight and bring out the facts pertaining to a story titled Musicians Boycott Ghana Music Awards Presentation. Charterhouse, organizers of the Ghana Music Awards Festival presented winners at the 2012 VGMAs with their prizes last Tuesday 12th June 2012 at the Head office of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) in Accra. The event saw several winners in attendance; Blakk Rasta, Stay J, Kesse, Steve Bedi, Guy One, 4x4, Diana Hopeson and Appiatus. The other winners who could not be present personally notified us and were represented by their authorized representatives who received their prizes on their behalf. It is important to note that the purpose of the presentation was to make good our promise to all award winners by presenting the cash awards publicly since the announcement of the cash awards was made publicly. The presentation by design was meant to be symbolic and by no means a social event. And as has always been the practice the prizes / awards were picked up by either the artistes themselves or their management. The fact that not all the winners were personally present to receive the cash awards should not be misconstrued to mean a boycott as this sends out the wrong message. We therefore wish to correct this misperception as we are happy to make the presentation to either artistes or their authorized representatives. Charterhouse is still committed to celebrating our hardworking musicians. As such, we do not appreciate these underhand attempts to create false impressions and will thus appreciate it if this rejoinder is published to correct the false impression created by your headline.
