Speaker worried with House over adjourning sittings

The Speaker of Parliament, Justice Mrs Joyce Bamford-Addo has expressed concern about Order 48 of the houses Standing Orders. The Standing Orders deals with the House adjourning sitting if a quorum of one third of members are not in at the time of public sitting. According to the Speaker, the House would have to look at the issue of quorum since it might drag the work of Parliament before the current House is dissolved. Justice Bamford-Addo made the observation as the Member for Akim Abuakwa North, Professor Emeritus Samuel Amoako drew her attention to the number of members not forming a quorum at the time public business begun. Meanwhile, the Majority Leader, Cletus Avoka seconded the Speaker's suggestion saying if not properly looked at the Standing Orders might be subject to misinterpretation.
