Stephen Appiah Calls For Kingstons Return To Black Stars

Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah wants the immediate return of Laryea Kingston to the Black Stars ahead of the next phase of the World Cup qualifiers. Coach Kwesi Appiah has come under some sort of pressure to alter his squad ahead of the next phase of the qualifiers after recording mixed results in the opening 2014 World Cup matches. The African giants thrashed 7-0 in the opening fixture at the Baba Yara stadium but the 1-0 defeat to African Champions Zambia has re-ignited the age-old debate of experience versus youthful exuberance. Kingston has not hidden his long-cherished desire to return to the national team after a two-year absence claiming he has enormous qualities than most of the current crop of players. Appiah, 31, has urged the technical handlers of the national team to look in the direction of the former Heart of Midlothian midfielder insisting he is not short of unrivalled traits. The young ones in the team are doing their best but Laryeas experience supersedes most of them, Appiah told Joy Sports My combination with Laryea in my hay days saw the team having a fantastic midfield. You can see that he still has the skills, he works very hard and he is a technical player. Despite his age he plays well. Am very happy anytime I see him play and will be grateful to see him in the team. The Hearts of Oak man has not been involved with the Ghana national since he was dropped from the final 2010 World Cup squad.
