Minister Of Justice Launches Project To Help Reform Judicial Sector

The Ministry of Justice with support from the UNDP is to undertake a survey to establish and provide up to date data on justice delivery and administration in the country. The project will among other things assist stakeholders to define new indications that are appropriate and credible for measuring justice delivery and democratic governance. Launching the project in Accra today, the Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Benjamin Kumbour, says the comprehensive baseline survey will help to better implement reforms in the sector. Of late, judgement debt, a dominant issue on the airwaves has been a major concern to many with some attributing the situation to the calibre of lawyers at the Attorney General's Department. However, the Sector Minister, Dr. Benjamin Kumbour, has jumped to the defence of his colleagues describing the comments as unfortunate. He said the phenomenon is a global one that requires a holistic approach. Dr. Kumbour spoke with GBCs Bubu Klinogo, on the sidelines of the launch of a survey on the justice system in Ghana.
