A leading member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, has backed the selection of Mr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as the Vice Presidential nominee, despite opposition from some members of the party. A pro-Spio-Garbrah group within the NDC kicked against the selection of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana as Vice President saying, Dr. Spio-Garbrah would have been an ideal choice. Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Dr. Spio-Garbrah said he supports the appointment of Mr. Amissah-Arthur, but added that he does not know what considerations went into the selection. He said: �The bottom line really is, all candidates could not have been selected, only one person has been selected and the President in his own wisdom has chosen Mr. Amissah-Arthur whom every one of us in the NDC knows has made many contributions over the years in the past.� According to him, no member of the NDC should be unhappy and disappointed with the choice of Mr. Amissah-Arthur because, �he played various important roles during the campaigning and it is a wise decision on the part of the President although nobody knows whatever criteria the President used, his decision should be respected.�
