Speaker Of Parliament Refers Nomination Of Amissah Arthur To Appointments Committee For Consideration

The Speaker of Parliament Mrs Justice Joyce Bamford -Addo has referred the nomination of the Governor of Bank of Ghana, Kwesi Amissah Arthur as the Vice President to the Appointments Committee of which vetting has been scheduled for 9 am on Monday. This follows the receipt of a letter from the Presidency. Meanwhile, both the Majority and Minority Leaders in Parliament think Amissah Arthur will make a competent Vice President. The Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is optimistic that the President's nominee would live up to the task if approved. Furthermore, the Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing, E.T. Mensah says the choice of Mr.Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur as Vice President is in the right direction. He said Mr. Arthur has both political and technical ability to occupy the high office of Vice President. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr. E.T.Mensah said Mr. Amissah Arthur had been with the NDC from the days of the PNDC and has the competence to partner President Mahama for the next five months. In a related development, Policy Think Tank, IMANI Ghana has described the nomination of the Central Bank Governor Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as Vice President as a fantastic choice. The Chief Executive of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Kudjoe tells Radio Ghana that Mr. Amissah Arthur has distinguished himself as the Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee in bringing some sanity in the banking sector. He noted that Mr. Amissah Arthur has the potential to reach out to the middle class and the intellectual community as Vice President . Mr. Kudjoe hoped the appointment of Mr. Kwesi Amissah Arthur will help focus political debate on issues.
