BARRING ANY unforeseen circumstances, vice presidential nominee Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur will be sworn in to office Monday evening after parliamentary approval. In line with this, the Appointments Committee of Parliament is expected to vet Amissah-Arthur Monday morning and present its report to the House for consideration the same day, for the nominee to be sworn in as the vice president. Minority Leader and Ranking Member on the Appointments Committee Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who indicated the vice president could be sworn in to office in parliament as mentioned, said this would enable the country�s second-in-command to adequately prepare for the funeral of late President Atta Mills, which would start Wednesday. His suggestion followed the presentation of the business statement by Majority Leader Cletus Avoka for next week. According to the business statement, the body of late President Mills was expected to be laid in state at the Banquet Hall of the State House on Wednesday. Accordingly, Majority Leader Cletus Avoka entreated all Members of Parliament to be in attendance at the forecourt of the State House by 4pm to file past the remains of the late president. Speaker Joyce Bamford-Addo, he further indicated, would be expected to pay tribute to the memory of the late president on Thursday during the ceremony programmed for the day at the forecourt of the State House.
