Cedi Depreciation Is Synonymous To General Elections - Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has implored political parties to be circumspect in critiquing the Vice President Designate Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on the bases of the depreciation of the cedi. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama after he assumed office as president of the Republic of Ghana due to the demise of president Mills. Mr. Kwesi Pratt noted that the country experiences a fall in the value of the cedi as compared with other currencies as a result of political activities during general elections. It is never the fault of the Governor of the central Bank. Let us not play politics with his nomination. He also bemoaned claims by sections of the public that the Vice President Designate is not a politician. In the 1970s, Paa Kwesi Amissah was among the first young politicians to join the New Democratic Movement at the tertiary level, which later developed into the provisional National Defense Council (PNDC), he stated. Mr. Kwesi Pratt further intimated that how can someone become a Deputy Minster without being a politician? He noted that the question we should be asking as a country is, what he is bringing to the National Democratic Congress that President Mahama does not have and how can we blend his strength and weaknesses with that of the president to make the country successful? Ghanaians will be watching the Appointment Committee on their performances on Monday. He added.
