The NDC Member of Parliament for the Tain Constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region, Ahmed Ibrahim has hit back at critics of government�s decision to plan for and bury the late President John Atta Mills three weeks after his death, saying it was for the good of the nation and the decision should be commended rather than condemned.
Hon. Ibrahim gave the commendation in response to claims by some critics that the Funeral planning committee had rushed in its preparations, committing avoidable blunders in the process and appearing insensitive to the feelings of the family.
The NPP Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South, Kwaku Balado Manu, speaking on Adom TV�s programme Badwam on Multi TV on Monday had criticized what he described as the rush to bury the late President, saying it was evidence of the government�s fear of losing the presidency in the December 2012 elections.
But Hon Ibrahim, speaking on the programme, stated that the swift action was necessary to get the nation back on track as most activities, both government and non-governmental have ground to a halt in the wake of the President�s death.
To therefore accuse the funeral committee of insensitivity was therefore inappropriate, he insisted. Government and the Committee must rather be commended for seeking to bring closure as early as possible in order get the ship of state back on track.
