The state would not organize a national thanksgiving burial service for the late President, Chairman of the Funeral Planning Committee, Kofi Totobi-Quakyi has disclosed. However, he said the late Prof. Mill�s family will organize a private thanksgiving burial service in Cape Coast. Briefing the media in Accra, Mr. Totobi-Quakyi said, �The Funeral Planning Committee did not plan for a national thanksgiving service but the family of the late president has told us that they will be having a private thanksgiving service in Cape-Coast�. He said after the burial on Friday, the Funeral Planning Committee will hold series of meetings to plan the late Prof. Mill�s 40-day celebration, which might take place in his hometown. The filing past of the mortal remains of the late President will continue today and tributes will also be read in the evening at the forecourt of the Banquet Hall, State House. The Council of State and Parliament will first read their tributes before other institutions. Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister for Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa issued a statement asking all representatives of the National and Regional Houses of Chiefs and Queen mothers scheduled to pay their respects at 11am on Thursday, August 9 to converge on the VAG Guest House, near the Ghana Immigration Service Headquarters, to be conveyed to the Banquet Hall. Mr. Ablakwa said under the auspices of the Ministry of Information, a special arrangement had been made for all media practitioners to pay their last respects on Thursday, August 9 between 1300 hours -1400 hours. �Media practitioners ought to remember that no form of photography is allowed within the Banquet Hall,� he added. Mr. Ablakwa said the events were national in character and should be observed as such and called for cooperation with security personnel and designated officials.
