The various Regional Security Councils across the country are organizing regional funeral ceremonies for the burial of the late President. They have also made provisions for the residents to witness the actual ceremony at the Independence Square in Accra. Citi Fm�s Eastern Regional Correspondent, Kwame Appiah Kubi, has reported that all is set in the region for the ceremony. According to him, the ceremony �is expected to attract dignitaries from all the political parties in the region, heads of institutions, DCEs and MCEs and the general public.� The venue is the Koforidua Jackson Park. Meanwhile, in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwadwo Brefo has reported that the ceremony will be led by the traditional leaders in the region. He stated that �the Regional House of Chiefs presided over by the Osahene Kweku Adakye will join the residents in the region to mourn with District and Municipal Chief Executives, members of Parliament to pay their last respect to the late President.� The venue is at the Sunyani Jubilee Park. In the Central Region, the ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Victoria Park. Citi News� Central Regional correspondent, Kwamena Bamfo Adjei stated that �some dignitaries are expected to converge at the family house of the late President in Cape Coast to observe the president�s funeral.� Reports also indicate that the residents in Ekumfi Otuam; the hometown of the late President Mills together with his family will also meet to observe the final funeral rites for their son and kinsman. In the Volta Region, mourners are expected to converge at the Ho Polytechnic to pay their last respect to the President. According to Felix Agbanyo, �the NDC party executives aside those who have been invited to Accra to take part in the actual ceremony will meet at the forecourt of the Ho Polytechnic to partake in the ceremony.� In the Northern Region, Abdul Karim Nantogma has reported that residents are bracing themselves up for the event. He said: �the Information Services Department has mounted giant screens at the Tamale Jubilee Park and are also erecting canopies and making provisions for the residents to witness the ceremony which is taking place in Accra.� And in the Ashanti Region, Betty Ohemaa Agyemang also reported that people are already seated at the Jubilee Park. She stated that �hundreds of mourners clad in red and black are converging at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi to participate in the activities of the final funeral rites of the late President Mills.� According to her, the three-day celebration in the region was observed quietly and was attended by political parties, religious groups and organizations.
