Kobena Mensah Woyome, Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu in the Volta Region, has likened the late President John Evans Atta Mills to Jesus Christ.
Mr Woyome said, �Jesus Christ took three years to carry out his salvation ministry, and for over 2,000 years now he has remained a universal hero: fresh in the minds and hearts of his adherents. In like manner, Professor John Evans Atta Mills has taken about three and half years to implement his Better Ghana Agenda.�
He continued, �Though he might not have reached his targeted destination of the agenda, he will forever be remembered for the speed and precision with which he tackled the various facets of it.�
In a speech read on his behalf at the funeral ceremony for the late President at the South Tongu District Assembly last Thursday, the MP said the deceased President exhibited utmost humility, which made him approachable without limitations of doctrine, ethnicity and political affiliation.
Mr Woyome observed, �President Mills� admiration for and understanding of the legislature made him to promise and to actually start delivering on the MPs� constituency offices.�
Mr Kobena Woyome said his constituency will forever remember the late President �because it was during his tenure of office that we experienced one of the highest infrastructural developments. I hereby strongly suggest that our elders and opinion leaders of South Tongu should consider proposing one of such edifices to government to be named after him.�
