NPP To Replace Bawku MP

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is to field a new candidate to replace incarcerated Bawku Central MP, Adamu Dramani, despite the legislators intention to appeal a two-year sentence against him. Hon. Dramani was imprisoned last month after he was found guilty on charges of false declaration of office, perjury and deceit of a public officer. Citi News checks in the Bawku Central constituency indicate that the party has begun screening for a new parliamentary candidate. The campaign manager for the constituency, Tanimu Abdulai, told Citi News the party will name a candidate by the end of this week. He said: We are trying to see if we can avoid going to the primaries that is why we are doing consultations to see if we can get a candidate that can be acceptable to all, a candidate that can cut across all the tribes we have here. Mr. Abdulai added that if the honourable Adamu hadnt been imprisoned, we wouldnt have had these challenges so the major problem is to replace him then we will move ahead.
