Pastor Beaten For Saying Women Can Also Do What Men Can Do

A 33-year-old car washer who allegedly burst into a church during worship and severely beat up the officiating pastor has appeared before a Nyinahim Magistrate Court. Patrick Ben Nyarko is charged with assault, and pleaded guilty with explanation. He was ordered to be kept in prison custody to re-appear on Wednesday, August 29. Police Inspector Daniel Otabil told the court presided over by Mr. Sam Nibi that the complainant, Pastor Augustine Marfo, is the minister in charge of the Church of Christ at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District. The accused also lives in the same community. On Sunday, August 12, at about mid-day, Pastor Marfo was delivering the sermon to the congregation when Nyarko suddenly rushed in and without any provocation brutally assaulted the pastor to the surprise of the worshippers. His justification was that the pastor was misleading the church members through false Bible teachings. Police Inspecter Otabil said the accused was mad at the claim by the complainant that what men can do, women can also do, insisting that this could not be found anywhere in the Holy Bible. Nyarko in his caution statement said he was acting on the orders of the Holy Spirit to stop the pastor from preaching falsehood.
