The Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Ghana@50 Secretariat, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey, said his outfit incurred no financial loss to the State because they �observed due process in all transactions.� Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, Dr. Wereko-Brobbey, popularly known as Tarzan, said the non-operational secretariat cannot be blamed for some judgment debts that have plagued the country. He said the blame should be laid at the door steps of late President John Evans Atta Mills. �The Auditor General simply didn�t understand the relationship between the Secretariat and the Office of the President,� Tarzan told the fact-finding committee. �We observed due process in all our transactions.� He added: �The records are at the confidential registry of the Office of the President. Every pesewa and cedi spent was subject to the programme approved by the National Planning Committee.� Dr. Wereko-Brobbey said they made some �surplus� in the organization of the 50th anniversary of Ghana although they are not a profit making organisation. �The Ghana@50 made a surplus. Any notion or allegations that we made losses are totally unsubstantiated. At the appropriate time the Committee can talk about the issue of over expenditure,� Tarzan said. He said Ghana is still benefitting from most of the decisions and projects undertaken by the Ghana@50 Secretariat. �The vehicles at the VVIP lounge are from the Ghana@50 fleet including the presidential fleet. The buses the soldiers at the Castle use are all from Ghana@50... The AU villages at Cantonments and Ridge are probably the finest gated community in this country. I haven�t seen any better and I am yet to see any better,� he stated.
