Laurent Gbagbos Ally Arrested In Ghana

The police in Ghana have arrested a spokesperson for former Ivorian leader Laurent Gbagbo. According to JOY News, sources close to government have confirmed the arrest, adding Justin Kone Katinan was picked up upon return from South Africa to Ghana last Friday. Sources say discussions are underway with the Ivorian authorities on how Justin Katinan should be extradited. Ivorian officials issued an international arrest warrant for Mr. Katinan for alleged crimes in recent post-election violence in the country and economic crimes. Katinan had been living as a political refugee in Ghana. He is the second top official in Gbagbo's government to be arrested while living in exile following the extradition of Moise Lida Kouassi, a former defense minister, from Togo in June. Meanwhile, the Ghana government has been presented with a list of Laurent Gbagbo allies believed to be living in Ghana to be arrested for extradition to Ivory Coast.
