Government Would Ensure Peaceful Elections - President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama, on Tuesday gave the assurance that government in collaboration with the Security Services would provide the necessary security logistics to ensure an incident-free general election in December. �It is only God that can choose an appropriate leader for us; I therefore call on all of you to conduct yourself professionally to achieve this goal� President Mahama gave this assurance when he addressed a grand durbar of chiefs and people of the Upper East Region at the Bolgatanga Jubilee Park as part of a day tour of the region. The Presidential Convoy spent about one hour between Winkongo and Bolgatanga , which is only five kilometers on account of massive turnout of party supporters and sympathisers. President Mahama said it was unnecessary for Ghanaians to engage in political party conflicts and rather admonished them to vote in the coming elections based on ideas, issues and programmes of the various political parties. He directed the Minister of Finance to release 2 million Ghana cedis for the re-roofing of all school classroom blocks that were ripped-off in the Region by the thunder storm some weeks ago. President Mahama also gave the assurance that government would build an ultra-modern regional hospital in Bolgatanga saying �we are about concluding the procurement process after which the contractor would begin work�. He said government had also completed arrangements to reconstruct and tar the Bolgatanga �Bawku, Tandema-Ththlida, Bongo-Tongo roads among others to facilitate the movement of people and goods. Naba Sigri-Bewlong, Vice President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, commended government for the numerous development project initiated under the better Ghana Agenda. Naba Bewlong gave the assurance that the Regional House of chiefs would collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure peaceful elections this year.
