NPP To Reintroduce Payment Of Teachers Allowance

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has promised to reintroduce allowances for voluntary Islamic teachers in Ghana. The NPPs Presidential running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who accompanied flagbearer, Nana Addo on his Restore Hope tour made this promise when he met some aggrieved Islamic teachers in Mamobi, a Muslim community in Accra. According to the teachers, the current NDC administration has failed to continue the payment of the allowances since they came to power. Sheik Muazz Mohammed who spoke on behalf of the teachers said: I was one of the teachers who benefitted from the voluntary services. Suddenly, we do not know what happened but some people came and they stopped the paying us and so we do not make money anymore apart from what we get as voluntary teachers. According to him, we have families to cater for and we are facing lots of difficulties so we need help. However, Dr Bawumia assured them that an NPP administration will restore the payment of the allowance. He explained that the allowances will be restored because it has been captured in our manifesto so it will be done. We are here to restore hope to the Ghanaian people. We have to motivate our teachers. In our education policy, teachers first, that is it.
