Parliament Hang In The Balance Over Creation Of 45 Constituencies

The emergency sitting of Parliament seems to hang in the balance as the Minority caucus says, they are boycotting proceedings until the Speaker, Mrs. Justice Joyce Bamford Addo takes a second look at the title of the Constitutional Instrument, CI which deals with the creation of 45 constituencies. The Minority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, started the debate on the title of the CI when he said, the CI that was relaid last month was numbered 73 but copies of the CI given to members of Parliament today has been numbered 77 and dated August 16 instead of August 15 when it was laid. After a heated debate on the floor of the House, the Speaker, ruled that the document be sent back to the Assembly Press for the date to be corrected and not the number. This apparently did not go down well with the Minority who staged a walk out just when the House was being adjourned. Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond says, minority decision to walk out is indefinite.
