Andre Ayew Refutes Unfriendly Tag of Accra Supporters Towards Black Stars

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew has dismissed allegations the Accra crowd are unfriendly to the Black Stars. Ghana hosts Malawi in the first leg of the ultimate 2013 Nations Cup qualifier on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium. However there have been concerns raised over the cold nature of the supporters towards the Black Stars in Accra especially when the going gets tough. There is even a vague perception that Accra is starved off Black Stars matches in preference to Kumasi because of the rude attitude of the Accra crowd. But Ayew says these allegations are false and that the Accra crowd just like any bunch of supporters will appreciate a genuine effort of the team especially when things are not going well. I believe that people try to give them a bad face that Accra supporters are like this and Accra supporters are like that, he told GHANAsoccernet.com. But I believe that they are supporters and they are here to support the squad and they have been doing it. I think it is part of the game to be criticized, sometimes it is difficult to accept it because sometimes it is true sometimes it is not true. But I think as players we have to forget and think about playing. If we play well and score I think they will cheer us up. So we are going to do everything to make them happy and I hope that they will push us if things are not going well. The Black Stars need to win massively against the Flames to ensure the second leg encounter is a mere formality of which the fans will play a crucial role in achieving this feat.
