Ghana Players To Wear Black Armbands Against Malawi To Honour Late Prez Mills

The Black Stars will be spotting black armbands for the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi, the Ghana FA has confirmed. This follows CAFs decision to grant the request of the Ghana FA over the use of the armbands in Saturdays game to honour the memory of late President John Atta-Mills. We thank CAF for approving the GFAs request to honour President Mills during Saturdays match against Malawi, Ghana FAs spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara disclosed in an official statement. The players will be wearing black armbands in our match (against Malawi). This is the first time the Black Stars are playing at home since the countrys leader died on 24 July. President Mills was a staunch football follower and was once the chairman of the Black Stars management committee. He was laid to rest on August 10th at a designated location which was later christened the Asomdwe Park in Accra after a two-day burial service attended by several world leaders.
