Unemployed Sentenced For Stealing Electronic Appliances

Kwabena Inkoom, unemployed, who stole a lap-top computer and two Nokia mobile phones has been sentenced to three years imprisonment in hard labour, by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District of the Eastern Region. Inkoom, 20, admitted causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing. The court presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong, sentenced Inkoom to 12 months imprisonment on each of the three counts to run consecutively. An accomplice, Kofi Appiah Twumasi is on the run. Inkoom had earlier told the police during interrogation that Twumasi trained him in criminology, saying, all his actions had therefore been criminal due to the training. Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah told the court that the complainant, Mr. Daniel Acquah lives at Akim Asene with Inkoom and that on July 6, this year, at about 06:00 hours Mr. Acquah woke up and detected the theft of his lap-top computer and two mobile phones, valued at GHC765. Chief Inspector Ahenkorah stated that during a search conducted in Inkoom�s room, they retrieved the stolen items and Inkoom was handed over to the police.
