5-Year-Old Girl Shot Dead

The family of five-year-old Efua Mintah Boadi of Kwabenya, Accra, has cried foul over the gruesome murder of its kin who was shot in a room while studying. The deceased, according to the family, was in one of the rooms or Life Health Foundation Clinic studying when a stray bullet hit her in the skull, killing her instantly.An autopsy report signed by Dr Lawrence Edusei of the 37 Military Hospital, the victim died of gunshot wounds. Yaw Boadi, father of the deceased told the paper that the incident happened on the afternoon of August 11, 2012. "My wife Eunice Boadi who works with the health facility near Kwabenya, on that fateful day took the child to work�, he stated. According to him, the deceased was allowed to sit in one of the consulting rooms studying her books while the mother worked. "The mother later heard the child screaming and rushed to the room to find out what was amiss. When the mother entered the room where the child was seated, she saw her lying in a pool of blood," he noted. Efua was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for intensive care but she died on the way. Doctors of 37 Military Hospital who examined the body indicated that the child was shot, and urged the family to lodge a complaint with the police. "We therefore reported the matter to the Kwabenya District Police for further action. When an autopsy was carried out by the doctors, pistol ammunition was "removed from the head of my daughter. As at now, no one has been identified as the person who shot at my child," the aggrieved father added. The Kwabenya District Police Commander, DSP Afriyie Ameyaw, he said police personnel from the crime scene unit of the Ghana Police Service are still investigating the matter, urging individuals to help the police with information.
