'Holy Spirit' Directs Man To Beat Pastor

The Nyinahin Magistrate Court, presided over by M Sam Nibi, has ordered a car washer to spend 180 days in prison for beating up a pastor. Patrick Ben Nyarko, who claimed he acted on the instructions of the Holy Spirit, would in addition, compensate Pastor Simon Mensah of the Nyinahin Church of Christ with an amount GH300.00. He had pleaded guilty to the charge of assault. Inspector David Otabil told the court that the convict August 12 entered the church whiles a service was in session to severely beat up the officiating pastor, accusing him of false Bible teachings. He said the pastor was delivering his sermon to the congregation when Nyarko rushed in and without provocation started punching and kicking him to the surprise of the entire congregation. Inspector Otabil said the convict faulted the pastor for misleading the church members with his assertion that what men can do, women can also do, insisting that, this could not be found anywhere in the Holy Bible. He said Nyarko was overpowered by the church members and handed over to the police where in his caution statement he claimed his action was due the orders of the Holy Spirit.
