Scrutinize Military Recruitment In Ghana - Rawlings

Former president Jerry John Rawlings has called for investigations into the recruitment process of military personnel in Ghana. According to Mr. Rawlings, the behavior of some personnel in the military leaves much to be desired. He said joining the military now has become a haven for the unemployed instead of a passionate move to serve the country. Not too long ago something happened in the Northern region, Mr. Rawlings said whiles addressing the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in Ho on Wednesday. Where there was a demonstration, there were about three or four soldiers who were lined up and when the demonstrators were moving one of the soldiers shot a demonstrator and these soldiers took a position using him [shot demonstrator] as a defense against the crowd. In my time that wouldnt have happened, how often didnt I tell our brother to investigate some of these recruitments? he added.
