Corpse Stranded At Ghana-Ivory Coast Border

Relatives of a dead man hoping to bury him in Ivory Coast together with traders seeking to enter the French speaking country through the Elubo border were on Tuesday denied entry as the Ivorian side remains closed. The Ivorian government blamed a recent attack at its border on supporters of ex-President Laurent Gbagbo suspected to be in exile in Ghana hence the decision to close the border. In an interview with Citi News, the officer in-charge of Ports Health at the Elubo Border Jumah Ansah said notwithstanding the closure some traders have arrived at the site today to cross over for business. The travelers are massing up again. I think they have not heard about the closure so Im sure by evening they will be many, he said. He added, It was on the various radio and television stations that it had been opened temporarily but the traders are still coming and we dont know what to do. Yesterday, we raised our concerns and forwarded a message to Abidjan. We are waiting to see if they would have the sympathy to open it again, he said.
