The national Under-17 women�s soccer team the Black maidens have beaten their Uruguayan counterparts by five(5) goals to nil in the on-going women�s U-17 world Cup in Azerbaijan.
The maidens opened the score line in the 8th minute through a Jane Ayieyam header from a corner kick.
Captain Priscilla Okyere doubled it through a rebound header in the 24th minute after the Uruguayan keeper failed to grab a long shot.
On the stroke of Half-time Alberta Ahialey beautifully capitalized on a goalkeeping howler and rounded off the Uruguayan keeper after she failed to keep hold of a low shot to give the maidens a half-time lead.
The Ghanaians showed class throughout the duration of the match, exhibiting skills and artistry on the pitch to outclass their opponents.
Twelve minutes from regulation time Fatima Alhassan drove into the net a long range shot past the Uruguayan shot stopper before Captain Priscilla Okyere sealed it off with another long range shot in the 79th minute.
This could be seen as a revenge for the unhealthy manner which Uruguay�s Luiz Suarez�s �Hand of God� save eliminated the Black Stars in the Quarter final stage of the South Africa 2010 World Cup.
The win for the Black Maidens have boost their chances of progressing to the knockout phase for the first time.
The maidens will play China in their last group match on the 30th of September at Baku.
