NDC Secretary: Most Of The Promises We Made Have Been Achieved

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is confident that their founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings will join them for their Manifesto launch. In an interview on Peace News, Richard Quashigah, Propaganda Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) said he was optimistic that Rawlings will be present for the launch. We are really expecting our father...he is our founder and if everything goes on well, he will be with us. Commenting on the launch, he said the NDC is still pursuing the Better Ghana Agenda. He however refused to give the details of the Manifesto, saying he is leaving that for President John Dramani Mahama. We are still pursuing the Better Ghana Agenda and that is not going to change. Most of the promises that we made has been achievedweve built schools, created jobs, infrastructure in terms of road network and a whole lots of achievementsdefinitely we are not going to move away from pursuing the 'Better Ghana Agenda'... he asserted. Richard Quashigah, commenting on the NDC educational policy said there is no way the country can have free education when there are no school buildings or other infrastructure. He reiterated the fact that the NDC believes in quality education before it (education) can be free. Those speaking on free education; what we are saying is that we are ensuring quality education and not messing up the education system. Before education can be free, there is the need to put in place infrastructure. As social democrats, we believe that every individual needs to have equal assets and equitable justice; it is part of our purpose and so when we get there and it is doable, free education will also come in but now we are emphasizing quality education and accessibility. Where there is no infrastructure there cannot be free education he added. Meanwhile, unlike Richard Quashigahs optimism that former President Rawlings will be attending the Manifesto launch, the office of the former President indicates that they dont have a copy of the Policy Statement. According to information privy to peacefmonline.com, the invitation letter was sent to the founder on Wednesday; a day before the scheduled date for the launch which is today, Thursday 4th October, 2012.
