If You Want To Resign, Do It And Stop The Noise-making - Ogbamey Tells 'Crazy' Sarpong

Managing Editor of the defunct Gye Nyame Concord newspaper, Alfred Ogbamey has lashed at Mr. Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB), charging him to tender in his resignation if that is what he really wants to do. The NACOB boss, a few days ago hinted that, he may tender in his resignation after taking blame for lapses which led to the seizure of huge quantities of marijuana and cocaine from Ghana on two occasions last week at the Heathrow Airport, UK. A few days ago, British officials intercepted a consignment of cocaine weighing about 7.5kg. The Agency found the consignment on Tuesday September 25, 2012 hidden inside plantain, within a larger freight consignment of fruits and vegetables from Ghana. Speaking on Peace FM morning show Kokrokoo with host Kwami Sefa-Kayi, Alfred Ogbamey said: I dont even see the basis for him saying that he would resign. First and foremost, nobody is pointing a gun to his head threatening him to resign. He himself said he was thinking of resigning and indeed there is a basis for him to resign, not because he is guilty but because of various promises he has made which unfortunately have not been fulfilled. If you have put certain measures to curb the drug problem in the country and it is not working, you should know that you are responsible Alfred insists that instead of 'crazy' Sarpong just using word of mouth, he must act upon it for the President to decide to accept or reject his resignation. I was really not happy with what he was doing and I couldnt understand his actions; I will resign, I will not resign. What is that? Indeed there is a legitimate cause for Akrasi to go based on his own promises, assurances and his failures. I would wish that he tenders in his resignation because he is such a massive failure. He made a promise and he failed to achieve that promise, Mr Ogbamey curtly said.
