2008 and 2012 Manifesto Are The Same: There Is Nothing New - Gabby Otchere-Darko

Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the Manifesto presented by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is an old wine in new bottle. To them, there is nothing new in what was said because the same thing was pronounced in 2008. The NDC launched its 2012 Manifesto or Policy Statement on Thursday in the Volta Region, Ho. The manifesto borders on Education, Infrastructure, Governance, job creation, health, economy and youth and sports. According to the NDC, they are still pursuing the Better Ghana Agenda. Speaking to Shamima Muslim on Metro TVs Good Morning Ghana, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Executive Director of the Danquah Institute and a kingpin of the NPP said there is nothing unique and different about the NDC policy statement because in 2008, the same promises were made. According to him, Ghanaians would have accepted the 2012 policy statement had the NDC achieved what they said in 2008. A lot of the promises were also made in 2008. Talking about infrastructure, education, before you put any credence or weight of credibility on what the NDC is saying, lets look at what they said in 2008, what they have achieved and what excuses or reasons they have given to why they have not achieved the rest. Everything that was said regarding education appears to have been said in 2008 but was not achieved. Let's just take electricity... as far as I am concerned: people go to bed using candles, they are not able to iron their dresses and you are telling us you have achieved significant improvement in power (electricity)?. How can you say that you have a better record in electricity than the NPP? I am not too sure how much credence we can give to what they are saying, he posited.
