The Electoral Commission (EC) has rejected the nominations of four political parties and one Independent Candidate. The parties are National Democratic Party (NDP), the Independent People�s Party (IPP), New Vision Party (NVP), and the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP). The parties failed to properly fill out their nomination forms and have been caught by the deadline for the submission of nomination forms. Two political parties, Democratic People�s Party (DPP) and the United Renaissance Party, which picked nomination forms could not submit them before the deadline. Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, Chairman of the EC, closed proceedings for the nominations after he gave the various parties ample time to sort out discrepancies in their forms. After the process, he said the opportunity given to the political parties was enough and nothing could be done beyond the stated deadline. Dr Afari-Gyan said the EC would on Friday 19th October hold balloting to select the positions of the political parties on the ballot paper for the December elections.
