7-Yr-Old Boy Gone Missing After Shooting Incident

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has said it has not been able to establish contact with the seven-year-old boy who accidentally fired a gun leading to the death of his three-year old sister. The parents of the boy are also nowhere to be found after the incident occurred. According to the police, the house where the shooting took place was empty upon their arrival. A three-year-old girl was accidentally shot dead by her seven-year old brother when the two were playing with a gun on Wednesday. Reports indicated that the children took the gun from a neighbors unlocked room at Asuoyeboa, a suburb of Kumasi. In an interview with Citi News, the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Yusif Tanko explained that "the mothers name has been given as Ama Aniwaa and the father as Yaw Poku. And also, we have not been able to retrieve the gun that was said to have been fired. Policemen went there when we heard the news but they said none of them were in the house; the boy, the parents and neither was the landlord in the house. And nobody seems to know where they are as of now." ASP Tanko also explained that any individual below the age of 12 who commits such an act is not amenable to justice so if a seven-year old or anybody who is below 12 does something which is contrary to the law, it does not deal with that kind of offence because the persons mind is not that matured enough to understand the consequences. We will try to find out how he came by the gun so that we know exactly how to proceed with the case, he added.
