President Mahama Cuts Sod For $75 Million Tumu - Han - Wa Transmission Line Project

President John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for the Tumu-Han -Wa 161 kV transmission line project at Wa in the Upper West region. The project at a cost of 75 million dollars is expected to improve reliability of power supply to the Northern parts of Ghana. It will improve the capability of VRA to meet the increasing demand for medium voltage supply to Northern Cote d'Ivoire, Togo and Burkina Faso. President Mahama stated government�s commitment to invest in energy as it recognises the sector as the main driver of the country's movement from a lower middle income to a middle income status. He stated that for the past four years, government has invested close to four hundred million dollars in energy transmission supply among other projects The President also apologised to the good people of Ghana for the load shedding. He said government is working at hand to leverage all investments towards the energy sector to bring to a complete end the issue of load shedding by the end of 2013.
