Passenger Shoots Himself On Board A Taxi Cab

The Madina Police are investigating a case in which a passenger on board a taxi is alleged to have mistakingly shot himself in the thigh leading to his death. The deceased, Clement Sowah, also known as Paa Joe, was said to have fired two warning shots with a pistol while the taxi he had boarded, was in motion. Unfortunately in his attempt to remove the magazine, the gun went off and a bullet hit his thigh. He later died at the Police Hospital while undergoing treatment. The Madina District Police Commander, Superintendent Joseph Owusu Bempah, told Daily Graphic that a taxi driver named Fred Adu Gyebi, reported to the Madina Police that at about 3pm on Saturday, Sowah boarded his taxi, with registration number GC 6162 11, and a few minutes afterwards, drew a pistol and fired two warning shots. He said the deceased attempted to remove the magazine and put the gun back in its sheath but he accidentally fired at his thigh. Supt Bempah said the taxi driver brought Sowah to the police station with blood oozing from the wound and was advised to send him to the Police Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he said, while Sowah was undergoing treatment, he died. According to Supt Bempah, the police had commenced full investigations into the matter and Gyebi had been invited to assist in that endeavour.
