Former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah says the popularity of Iranian football is among the reasons that made him sign for Perspolis Football Club.
Appiah has been presented with the number 3 shirt of Perspolis Football Club in Iran after completing a move.
�The popularity and tradition of Perspolis, and its marvelous fans, was the main reason for me to take my career to Asia,� Appiah said as he was unveiled to the press.
�I'm a footballer, I have a lot of energy. I can play and want to be successful. I always love to play and I play with full force. I would do my best for this club and I'm happy with the club's numerous fans.�
The 31-year-old midfielder passed a medical Thursday in Tehran is now a player of Perspolis, who have won 11 league titles and one Asia cup winners� trophy.
Appiah, announced his retirement from international football in 2010 in order to concentrate on club football in a career which has seen him ply his trade in Italy for clubs like Udinese, Parma, Brescia, Juventus, Bologna and Cesena and Fenerbahce (Turkey), FK Vojvodina(Serbia).
