Naadu To Receive Prize For Prof. Mills

A former First Lady, Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, will be in Nairobi, Kenya, to receive the prestigious Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize on behalf of her late husband, Professor John Evans Atta Mills. The awards are scheduled for December 15, 2012. Organizers of the awards, the Millennium Excellence Foundation, named the late President Mills as the recipient of the 2012 Democratic Governance and Development Laureate Lifetime Africa Achievement award. President Mwai Kibaki of Kenya will take the prize for Leadership, National Cohesion and Stability while President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda will receive the award for Nation-building and African Leadership. Dr. Mohammed �Mo� Ibrahim, Sudanese-born British mobile communications entrepreneur and billionaire, is one of the awardees to be presented with their prizes on December 15, 2012 at the State House in Nairobi, Kenya. A statement issued by the organizers said President John Dramani Mahama had been invited as a special guest of honour at the function, which will attract leaders of the African Union and the Economic Commission for Africa. �The 2012 nominated Laureates have displayed an exceptionally high level of statesmanship that recognizes no tribal barriers, political colouration and religious discrimination in the governance of their respective countries as they relentlessly endeavour to liberate their peoples from poverty and all forms of deprivations,� it added.
