Kotoko Toure In HIV Scandal

Twenty-five-year-old former Asante Kotoko striker Ahmed Toure is reported to have tested HIV positive when his Egyptian Club, El Gouna, made him undertake a medical checkup. The revelation has generated some heat in Ghana as the player was said to have dated a number of Ghanaian celebrities when he was playing for Asante Kotoko until some four months ago. When we signed him he did not suffer from any diseases; however we do regular checkups for the players all times and we now know that he has the virus, Ahmed Al Sohafey, Director of El Gouna, was quoted by supersport.com to have stated last Saturday. The club alleged further that Ahmed Toure tested negative to all initial tests conducted but when the last medical report revealed he had been diagnosed with the much stigmatized virus, he quietly sneaked out of Egypt with a fake passport. Ahmed Toure has however denied he has HIV in an interview he granted MTNFootball.com. He is also reported to have released the results of a medical checkup he had on August 9 at the Al Moktabar Laboratories in Cairo and signed by Dr. Hend El Sherbini, which he tested negative for HIV. Im in Abidjan now and I did not run away with a fake passport and I dont believe the club is the source of the story If the club is involved, then I will go to FIFA to report them I agreed to play for them next January after passing my medical test, Ahmed Toure was quoted to have told MTNFootball.com. Ahmed Toure was born in Burkina Faso but holds Ivorian nationality. He joined Gouna from Asante Kotoko, where he spent three seasons and scored 20 goals.
