Stop The Nuisance Of Defecating In Classrooms Teachers

Teachers in the Atwima-Mponua District have complained about the nuisance caused by unscrupulous people, who take joy in defecating in classrooms. They said nothing could be more demoralizing and nauseating than to see school children forced to routinely perform the unpleasant job of cleaning classrooms and school compound of faeces. They therefore appealed to the district assembly, communities and the school management committees (SMCs) to do everything to wall the schools. This comes as the nation joined in the celebration of this years World Toilet Day. Mr Henry Osei, the District Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), said the school premises should become a no-go area to the community after school hours. He said the school compound should be protected and must not be used as thoroughfare. Miss Faustina Asamoah, a teacher at the Mpasatia Basic School, and her colleague, Miss Priscilla Owusu of the Kuffuor Basic School, appealed to community leaders to help address the unhealthy situation. They said it was affecting academic work as greater part of the contact hours was spent on cleaning, washing and spraying the classrooms with disinfectants.
