Include Private Schools In Free Education - Coalition Appeals

The Coalition of Parents and Students in Private Institutions has appealed to the political parties promising Free Senior High School, to extend the policy to cover private schools as well. Addressing a news conference in Accra, the Executive Secretary for the group, Dr. Simon Gbene however indicated that, looking at the sources available to us, there are people who are well off who wouldn't need free education now. Therefore the emphasis should be on the poor so that we will do it and do it well. Dr. Gbane also called for a national dialogue to ensure a successful implementation of the free education concept. If we have a national dialogue and we all agree that it should be free education, then we will know how to do it but in the interim, it will be better we target the poor. We have done our own research and we got to know that a lot of parents complain of high school fees, so in the interim something should be done about the school fees while including the private schools.
