About thirty Ghanaian students on government scholarship in Turkey are calling on President Mahama to come their aid following the non payment of their allowances since November last year. �The last time we received our allowances was in November last year�. One of the students who spoke to Citi News on condition of anonymity said, life had become unbearable for students as they could not even afford basic needs such as a toothbrush. �School fees and accommodation cost are being handled by the Turkish government while we are provided with monthly allowances by the Ghana government,� he stated. �We are about 30 students studying various programmes which are beneficial to the economy of Ghana. That was the agreement between the Ghana and Turkish governments,� he said. The student further indicated, �a toothbrush sold in Ghana for GHC 1.50p is being sold here at the cedi equivalent of GHc6. Some of us wish to come home because if we were to be with our parents, we would get food to eat and clothes on our backs. Even if we decide to come home, where will we get the ticket from?�
