Prez Mahama: Sports Part of My Plans

President John Dramani Mahama says sports development is one of his governments main objectives if elected into office in the next general elections. At a time the Ghanaian media have lambasted the eight eligible presidential candidates for neglecting sports in their manifestos, the incumbent says putting the nation on the sporting map is his concern. We know that sports are an avenue for job creation. I believe its important to discover our talents very young and be able to promote them and let them make money for themselves, he said. Ghana over the years has failed to live up to expectation at major sporting events on the continent and abroad due to poor preparations and inadequate sporting facilities, to aid athletes in training for such competitions. The most recent was the countrys shameful outing at London 2012 Olympic Games. We will create facilities in every district so that young people can train in any discipline to enable us spot where the talents are and pick them up for national duty, President Mahama added. Next Friday, December 7, would see Ghana go to the polls to elect a leader for the next four years.
